What a great November! We just finished another Nurture in Nature retreat up in Ucluelet and Tofino. We are so grateful to the peoples of those traditional territories for the opportunity to bask in the beauty and tranquility of their home. The rain held off for the most part, so we were able to do several outdoor activities. We had a chance to participate in a sweat ceremony, a traditional brushing ceremony, a sunrise ceremony, we took long walks on Long Beach and explored the Ucluelet inlet, and we shared stories and food in community. Thanks, once again, to our Elder and traditional Nuu Chah Nulth healer, Levi Martin for his leadership and welcome. Along with delicious food, we came away with a great sense of rest and peace of mind, body, and spirit.
Our Share in Sustenance program has seen a boost in participants as some of the participants from the Nurture in Nature retreats have started attending and inviting others to join them. All are welcome, and everyone definitely gets an extra boost from the added energy and sharing around the table. Our Indigenous Outreach and Support Worker was also quite active this month, making new contacts around the city. The highlight of November was a special shopping outing with one participant who was excited to share their growing financial management skills.
Just a reminder of our Christmas Celebration coming up on December 5th at 4:00PM. Find more details here – we look forward to sharing an afternoon of celebration with you.
