During October, our Share in Sustenance program continued to host a community night weekly. We welcomed everyone around a family sized dining room table (yes, sometimes it gets a little cozy) to share a home cooked meal. We spend the evening in community, sharing stories and laughter over warm food. Thanks to our volunteers, with a special mention this month to Marg L., who help with the shopping and the cooking.
Our Nurture in Nature program took us back up island this month to a large home on the Ucluelet inlet. Ten participants were invited into two days of ceremony and culture under the guidance of our Oasis elder and traditional Nuu Chah Nulth healer, Levi Martin. Our participants enjoyed the tranquility and beauty of this natural setting, as well as the opportunities to connect to one another and self. Thanks to the help of a phenomenal cook, we ate very well over the two days, giving an overall experience of nourishment to body, mind and spirit. We offer special thanks to our host for having the fire going when we arrived! We felt most welcome in this beautiful and inviting space.
